“Child on the field!” Izuna’s voice snaps out over the skirmish between his squad and Tobirama’s with more force than he can spare, but it’s more important to call the warning than to roast the Senju with a fire ball right now. He’s already paused in mid swing as his rival squawks in surprise; whatever that seal was meant to do, the sudden appearance of a kid must not have been on the list.
Around them all the Uchiha stop what they’re doing, and half a breath later the Senju follow, recognizing the ridiculous outfit on the kid as a Senju one. The striped hakama are shades of yellow and the top is blue, giving everyone a clear view as the kid scrambles away from them and toward the brambles behind the Uchiha side of the fight.
“What the hell?!” Sukeari demands, aiming his ire at the Drowning Breath. As he should.
“I don’t know!” Tobirama is startled into shouting back. “Tenka! Get back here!”
The miscreant child does not obey her elder and continues to flee. Toward what, only a child could guess.
Kuushi slides away from crossing swords with Madara’s Hare to give chase, but Tenka the tiny menace replaces herself with a fallen branch with a giggle right before Kuushi can get a grip on her.
There’s a sound that Izuna has never heard before, similar to applause, but actually the sound of almost everyone present smacking a hand to some part of their face.
The oldest member of Tobirama’s squad says, already so done, “Maki, Operation Bathtime? Please?”
Tobirama’s old second laughs and the Uchiha all eye her with wariness, but when the chakra wave rolls over the small battle field it is subtle and does nothing to their Sharingan or chakra enhancement. Kuushi has recovered and circled to try another intercept, and when Tenka tries the same trick again the Jutsu fizzles in a familiar way. There is scooping with the professional ease of an older sibling.
“Aah, no fair helping them Maki-ba!” the brat complains, going limp in Kuushi’s grasp.
Chikaya turns to Izuna and says, more than loud enough to be heard by everyone, “Izuna, can we have a cease fire for today please? I have a sudden overwhelming crush on Maki-san’s cleverness and it’s terribly distracting.”
The skirmish has stopped and Izuna has no intention to start it up again with a kid there. It doesn’t look like the Senju do either. The two ninjutsu specialists and Tobirama have already put their swords away, and the others are just wary, waiting.
“I’m going to throttle my cousin next time I catch him,” Izuna grumbles. He nods, which is enough confirmation for Chikaya to turn their most winning smile on the Senju.
“I’ll help,” Tobirama mutters as Kuushi hands the kid over to Maki.
Izuna doesn’t want to agree with his rival about anything, but he smirks. Sasuke is in for it now.
